I agree – I got my first rifle at age 13 a Bruno 308
I shot Hundreds of army ammo, then hundreds of normal factory ammo, later started reloading and it is still my favourite and most accurate rifle – never had any work done to it except cosmetic’s.
I live in South Africa and hunted from impala (deer size game) to Eland (Largest antelope in the world) with nothing less than great results.

It took me a LONG time to come to appreciate the .308. I was a die hard 30-06 fan and still believe it to be a great cartridge. However the .308 does the same job with 1/2″ shorter bolt throw and 10 grains or so less powder. I live in New England but have lived in the West (Montana) and have shot elk with the .308–nothing more is needed.

Hey Uncle Ted I saw a episode of spirit of the wild a while back where you talked about the government giving deer in colorado feed with chronic waste disease in it, I found that very interesting. I live in Albuquerque NM one of my inlaws neighbors past away yesterday and my motherinlaw told us that 8 months prior to his death he had ate deer meat from a deer that been eating from a regular alfalfa field and when deer do that they sometimes get contaminated and one person out of a million will die from that. Now I don’t no all the details suroundind what happen it just made me think if there is a link between the contaminated feed or if there is such a thing with deers eating planted alfalfa. I appreciate your time uncle ted and just letting you no we love ya at here in Nuevo Mexico.

I just want to verify for my friends and family who currently should have recieved April/May issues of Hunting Illustrated, we will recieve them after May 26th,2009.
We have all had HI Magazine withdrawels, hot flashes, temper tantrums, etc. you get the idea!
The question came up on a recent trip to Billings, Montana with family going to see my son Graduate w/Bachelors Degree in Billings. One brother from Western Oregon said he never got his magazine, my dad from Eastern Oregon never got his and myself from Eastern Oregon never got mine. So after the dicussion while driving to Billiings, we thought, maybe HI Magazine folded up shop like so many Businesses have done during these hard economic times that our country is seeing. So I get to Billings and my son and his roommates all said what is going on with HI Magazine (LIKE I SHOULD KNOW) your son has not got his current issue for all of us to read. They were very concerned with finals, and all they had going on before graduation and thought maybe they missed out on something happening in the world of hunting magazines. If in fact the Rocky Mountain College Graduates will have their copies comming soon I hope their forwarding addresses all make it to you in time for this lattest issue. So if in fact Christenson Arms will be sending out our issues soon, and all will be well, I think, we can all breath easy for a few more weeks while waiting. Thank you for the notice on the internet site. Looking forward to seeing Christensons Hunting Illustrated and whats to come!

I just got through watching your show Spirit of The Wild. On the episode you were hunting on the family farm, and you shot two wild hogs. The big boar came up with a sow and her pigs. You hammered the big boar. The sow got all hyped up and started looking for a rear end to tear into, it look liked you and the camera person were in her sights. Then in the video it look like you stuck her in the shoulder. You told the audience that you got two good boars. The pigs with the sow were definitely old enough to be weaned. The sow was on the defense of her pigs from all of the commotion. I wouldn’t have gotten out of my tree with her in that state of mind. The pork from the sow is going to be sweeter than that of the old boar. It is crazy that you have to be so careful about what happens with an animal that God created for us to eat, that animal doesn’t have a soul. Sam,Sally,or Joe can’t be replaced once their gone, but that slab of bacon in nature will be replaced.
